It is the mating season here in liberal California... at least for newts!
Trying to throw some humor in the mix after the seriousness of the last two days, in case any of you are wondering.
I sat and watched these two beautiful, mysterious creatures glide gracefully through the water in interlocked arms. Such a soothing, healing meditation…

Let the rain fall where it will!
So grateful for the moisture here in California. It has been a dismal drought the last few years for the vegetation and wildlife (including the humans). I saw deers, rabbits, raccoons and even rats in my yard (which is unusual), looking for water and food to munch on this past summer and fall. No doubt, we are all dancing and rejoicing in the downpour.
PS: The rats got relocated back to their home in the hills via Ratinator - a wonderful live trap!
